My Aching Neck!
Neck Pain and Your Nervous System
Neck pain is one of the most common physical complaints linked to modern life, especially for people working at desks, driving often, or spending long hours on screens (which is most of us!). While terms like "tech neck", neck stiffness, and upper back tension often point to posture and overuse, stress is also a major contributing factor. When the nervous system is in a state of chronic stress, the body naturally increases muscle tension in the neck, shoulders, and jaw as part of its protective response. Cue chronic pain and tension headaches.
Massage therapy can help reduce muscle tension and also support nervous system regulation. As the body shifts out of a stress response and into a more relaxed state, the muscles of the neck and upper back begin to release, improving comfort, mobility, and overall recovery.
